Great exploring, conversations and yes – fashion finds!
We just came back from a fantastic road trip around southern Alberta in Canada. Terry and I and two other couples picnicked, toured and shopped in Canmore, Lethbridge, Rosebud (home of the Rosebud Theater near Drumheller) and Camrose.
Hidden dining treasures – I eat therefore I am
We had a lot of fun and adventures – I hit Terry with a rock (don’t ask) and we almost ran out of gas (ask Terry). We got to know each other better as well as discovering some great casual dining places like the Summit Cafe in Canmore for breakfast and coffee, Mocha Cabana in Lethbridge and the Thorn & Rose Cafe in Rosebud. We also stayed in some beautiful lodging such as the Falcon Crest Lodge in Canmore and the delightful Rosebud Country Inn, one of Alberta’s nicest B&B.
Conversational fashion tips
As good networkers, all our conversation wasn’t just amongst ourselves. We struck up conversations with all sorts of people that we met. When we got talking about our love of fashions (this is the girls not the guys) people gave us some amazing tips for out of the way women’s clothing shopping finds.
Small town with a ton of shoes
Who would have thought that a little old western town like Trochu would have a huge shoe store (click photo above, don’t let the small storefront fool you) with an amazing selection of women’s shoes? There were lots of men’s shoes but the guys didn’t buy any. (We women certainly bought our share and then some.) Two hours of shopping and an alfresco lunch later and we were on our way for some more fashion exploring.
The largest independent women’s clothing store in Canada
Camrose Alberta is a beautiful little city with a small town feel. As a bonus for the women it has an amazing assortment of women’s clothing and specialty boutiques. Lou’s Fashions was a real find. One of the largest independently owned ladies wear stores in Canada just an hour south of Edmonton. (Unfortunately the boys dragged us away after only 3 hours of shopping but we’ll be back.) Note to self – next time have a girls only roadtrip.
Too bad it had to end
The trip left us hungry for more (not just eating and shopping either). There are so many beautiful places to explore in our own backyard. We met great people and had some facinating conversations. The trip left us with terrific memories and a ton of topics for conversation with our network and blog friends. What more could you ask for in a summer adventure? What about you? What adventures and hidden treasures have you discovered this summer? (Try that last question as a good networking conversation gambit and see where it takes you.)
