There’s treasures in them there circuit boards
Usually when you think of treasure from recycling your electronic equipment you think about it being melted down for the precious metals. Meet the artist
Amanda Rethman, a self-described graphic designer, artist and aspiring evidence examiner, is the creative mind behind these gorgeous necklaces, pendants, rings, earrings and even guitar picks. As she says on her Blue Kraken site, her accessorizing items are made from recently expired computers.
Engineering, IT and Techie Guys take note
Want to make a statement that you’re a stylish kind of techie guy. Check out Amanda’s tie bars and tie tacks. When you wear something like these it also makes a great conversation starter. “What a neat tie bar. What’s it made of?”
Take my own advice
I’m going to take my own advice and buy some too. (Tip – I favour tie bars as they don’t put a hole in my expensive silk ties.) I’ll also ask her if she can make me some cufflinks similar to the tie tacks, to dress up my french cuffs.
If you want to be inspired electronic jewelry wise check out her online shop at thebluekraken
Don’t buy them all, leave some for me. (Wouldn’t they make great gift ideas for guys and gals,)
Thanks to Bill Detwiler of TechRepublic IT blog for surprising me with this interesting story idea that’s as much about fashion and accessorizing as it is about IT.
