A heartwarming tribute to a dog
who showed us how to win friends and make a difference
I had to share this heart-warming video. It’s a lovely tribute to Toby, an amazing dog.
Our good friend and professional speaker colleague Charmaine Hammond has written a couple of books On Toby’s Terms and Toby the Pet Therapy Dog, about their Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
Toby, who started off as a real house destroying problem child/pup, eventually found his purpose and calling as a pet therapy dog who touched hundreds of people’s hearts.
Toby recently passed away, but his legacy continues to touch people’s lives. Joanne and I both met Toby and loved his book On Toby’s Terms. As Jack Canfield, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul described it “Simply a beautiful book about life, love and purpose. ”
Toby showed that we all have a purpose on this planet. That the little good deeds and kindnesses that we do for others really make a difference to the world,
whether we are a dog or a human.
Thank you Charmaine and Chris for sharing Toby with us.
(The beautiful background song is by singer/songwriter Justin Hines.)
Me too, Maureen. It gets to me every time i watch it. But Toby did so much good, it’s a happy type of tears. The scene where he jumps off the dock reminds me that his ripples, like all our good deeds, keep spreading out to touch unknown shores.
Terry, I should have known better to watch this at the office. Luckily since it’s allergy season I can justify my “misting” of the eyes to allergies if any colleagues notice…
