Business suit trends, tips and advice from the Grammy Awards

Grammys signal a return to the suited look for men of every musical taste.

There were a lot of suits in a lot of looks as the Grammy stars showed us how to wear a suit.

As an image consultant I love to watch the Grammys. Unlike the Oscars where the look is fairly tuxedoed, the Grammys give us a more eclectic look at men’s fashion trends. What really stood out was that suits were in evidence everywhere from country to hiphop and RnB.

The great news is for a change we saw a huge variety of color being worn by the stars. There was every shade of red  imaginable from ruby red to fuchsia and honeysuckle, (a bright coral). Speak in haste and repent in leisure

A great book led to my new year’s resolution.

Whenever I discover a new author I want to devour everything else they have ever written. I just finished reading The Book of Negroes, a superb novel by Canadian author Lawrence Hill (stay tuned for Terry and my review). This led me to another of his books Black Berry Sweet Juice, an exploration of race and identity, nonfiction that reads like a novel.

Julia Ormond – name slip up tip from Emmys

We all forget someone’s name occasionally. It’s happened to all of us but probably not in front of a hundred million viewers.

Didn’t you just cringe for poor Julia Ormond, the other night at the Emmys. She won best supporting actress for the HBO film Temple Grandin and then in the middle of her acceptance speech, she didn’t have a wardrobe malfunction, she had a memory malfunction.Continue reading
